A Message From Logan Lynch, Owner & Founder Of Life In Motion Physical Therapy
A woman’s pelvic floor may become dysfunctional for a variety of reasons during her life. For instance, delivery, whether vaginal or by c-section, can overstretch muscles and nerves, damage connective tissue that results in prolapse, modify the location of the pelvis, and/or lessen the potency of muscular contractions due to scar tissue.
The pelvic floor’s ability to operate can also be impacted by hormonal changes that occur during a woman’s lifespan. Numerous traumas, including falls, car accidents, post-operative complications, and painful sexual experiences, can disrupt the pelvic floor’s normal function, resulting in discomfort and/or incontinence. Due to their tight muscles, some women and girls may have discomfort and incontinence. Not only that, but endometriosis, interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome), and pudendal neuralgia are also frequently linked to pelvic discomfort, uncomfortable sex, and incontinence.
Nearly 25% of women are thought to have pelvic floor problems. Furthermore, 50% of women may have pelvic floor dysfunction by the age of 80 due to the fact that the risk of acquiring one rises with aging. In fact, one of the main reasons people are sent to nursing homes is incontinence. Although it is frequent, it is not normal and shouldn’t be considered a natural aspect of becoming older. Addressing these problems as soon as they emerge is worth the effort.
At Life In Motion Physical Therapy, we can assist you in identifying the root of your problem(s) before creating a tailored program to treat your specific dysfunction (s). Treatment options include:
- Using myofascial release
- Biofeedback
- Relaxation strategies
- Exercises to stretch the pelvic floor
- Strengthening pelvic floor
- Coordination between pelvic floor muscles and other bodily parts
Stop your suffering now. Life In Motion Physical Therapy can help.
- Tired of having urine leakage (incontinence) while you run, jump, or even just go about your everyday business?
- Concerned about persistent postpartum back, hip, or pelvic discomfort that won't go away?
- Since the birth of your child, have you been experiencing feelings of insecurity, annoyance, or discouragement? Do you believe that your body will never regain its previous state?
- Finding sex to be awkward or painful?
- Feeling like you're losing out on life because you can't keep up with your kids?
- Lacking self-confidence because you have a diastasis recti, a weak core, or a persistent perception that you are pregnant while not being so?
- Confused about what to do or frustrated that prior methods have failed (even if it was another PT)?
- Are you seeking an all-natural, long-lasting solution to these issues (one that doesn't need drugs or surgery)?
You’ve come to the correct place if you responded “Yes” to any of these questions!
- "Do nothing but rest for 6 weeks, then resume your usual activity," your doctor advises. Weeks, months, and even years pass, and you're still battling.
- "Just do some YouTube exercise videos and you'll be back in shape in no time," yet those activities cause discomfort and leaking, and you feel terrible and disheartened afterward.
- It's "natural" to have discomfort or abdominal separation after giving birth, and "everyone leaks" or struggles with bladder control as they become older.
- Everything will be OK if you take some pain relievers.
- Only medicine, surgery, or "simply coping with it" are possibilities.
The Reality Is...
- Resting it makes no difference. You may receive some short respite, but when you return to work, you will still be suffering from pelvic discomfort, leaking, and other postpartum symptoms (I'm sure you've already experienced this!).
- While it is fairly frequent, having prolonged discomfort or urine leaks after pregnancy is NOT NORMAL... or even as you become older.
- Pain relievers are addictive, hazardous, and can cause a variety of other health issues.
- Medicine, surgery, and injections are not the only options available. They are the only alternatives available to you from your doctor.
At Life in Motion Physical Therapy, We Assist Athletes and Active Adults in Getting Back to Their Favorite Sports and Workouts Without the Need for Surgery, Stopping Their Favorite Pastimes, or Turning To Pain Medication. In Order to Ensure a Complete Postpartum Recovery and Address Postpartum Pain and Leakage Issues…
For your health, you must pick the appropriate provider. If you don’t, you can wind up needing surgery when you might have avoided it and develop a drug or painkiller dependency. or endure symptoms that progressively get worse for the remainder of your life.
To eliminate your leaking, abdominal separation difficulties, pelvic floor concerns, or postpartum hip/back/pelvic discomfort and prevent it from returning, you must receive the “least-invasive,” most natural treatment possible.
Your rehabilitation will be greatly aided by working with a medical professional who is aware of how the body functions as a whole. During the course of pregnancy and the postpartum period, our bodies undergo remarkable changes.
To properly recover, we must address the changes in posture, strength, and how we use our bodies, as well as those in the neck, back, diaphragm, core, pelvis, and bladder. There are a lot more involved than just Kegels!
We must not only address the symptoms if we want to guarantee a full recovery. You must have a qualified healthcare physician that is eager to identify the SOURCE of your dysfunction and symptoms. You’ll find a LONG-TERM answer to your postpartum issues at that point.
At Life In Motion Physical Therapy, we've developed a three-step procedure to both eliminate your postpartum symptoms and guarantee that you'll never have them again.
STEP 1 - WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR STORY.
Our healthcare system is challenging. You may have to wait weeks or even months for an appointment, and when it finally comes around, you only get to speak with the physicians for about 10 minutes before they have to go to see the next patient.
This is how even the majority of physical therapy clinics run things. They aren’t paying attention, they move quickly, and your therapist doesn’t have time to get to know you or work with you one-on-one. We behave so differently as a result!
We’re going to listen to your narrative as our initial step because of this.
After successfully assisting several postpartum ladies, we are aware that no two persons are the same. Each person has a unique physique, a unique past, and various pains and symptoms.
We will start by having an open discussion and giving you the opportunity to share your tale. In this manner, we are better able to comprehend not just what is happening to our bodies but also how it is affecting our life.
STEP 2 - FIND OUT WHY YOUR SYMPTOMS BEGAN.
Many people have a medical diagnosis or word for what is ailing them. Perhaps their doctor handed it to them, perhaps examinations revealed the condition, or perhaps you discovered it online.
You may have been diagnosed with prolapse, diastasis recti, incontinence, dysfunction of the pelvic floor, pain in the SI joint, or hip/back/pelvic pain.
It’s possible that the only option you had was to relax, take medication, or wait it out.
These solutions can occasionally provide momentary comfort, but they don’t deal with the root cause of the issue.
The origin of each person’s discomfort or symptoms varies. No two people have the exact same issue brought on by the exact same reason.
At Life In Motion Physical Therapy, we strive to identify the root of your issue so that not only does your discomfort go gone, but it STAYS AWAY!
We recognize that you might still be on the fence or unsure of whether Integrative Physical Therapy is the correct choice for you. We designed a free Discovery Visit with this in mind. (Yes! That implies that we pay for the first session!
Our Discovery Visits are designed exclusively for those who are dubious, uncertain, or who may even have experienced disappointment in the past. You’ll learn what’s wrong, how long it will take to remedy it, and get reassurance that your issue can be resolved naturally at the discovery visit!
STEP 3 - SOLVE THE ISSUE AND PREVENT IT FROM REOCCURRING.
Significant changes take place at this point. We provide a unique strategy that enables you to…
…resume exercise (yes, even sprinting and leaping!) without concern that pain, stiffness, or problems with bladder control may return.
…play with your children, lift and carry them without difficulty.
…resume intercourse with your partner without concern about discomfort.
…resume your favorite active lifestyle (yoga, jogging, tennis, whatever you enjoy doing!).
…when your body totally recovers from that Diastasis Recti/Abdominal Separation and regains its core strength. Feel powerful, confident, and even seductive once more.
The most enthusiastic and prepared clients are those who want to regain their active lifestyle. (Even if they now seem stuck!)
